In a recent display of culinary ineptitude, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), one of the most influential figures in the U.S. Senate and the federal government, demonstrated a shocking lack of knowledge about grilling burgers.

This incident, which occurred on Father's Day, was captured in a social media post that quickly went viral. According to RedState, the post was later deleted by Schumer, but not before it had been widely shared and commented upon.

The post, which was originally spotted by Twitchy, showed Schumer preparing to grill burgers for a family barbecue. "Our family has lived in an apartment building for all our years, but my daughter and her wife just bought a house with a backyard and for the first time we’re having a barbecue with hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill! Father's Day Heaven!" Schumer wrote in the post.

However, the post was met with immediate backlash as Americans pointed out a glaring error in Schumer's grilling technique. The senator had placed cheese on raw beef patties, a culinary faux pas that drew widespread criticism and ridicule. The post garnered over three million views before Schumer deleted it.

The breaking news account, Raws Alerts, also highlighted Schumer's grilling blunder. "I'm sorry, but why would you put cheese on raw beef and not wait until the beef is fully cooked before adding the cheese? Please don't make me do a breaking news story about how to properly add cheese to a cheeseburger the right way," the account tweeted.

The incident raised questions about Schumer's authenticity and relatability. Despite his attempt to portray himself as a regular guy enjoying a family barbecue, his grilling gaffe suggested a lack of familiarity with a quintessential American pastime. Some critics suggested that Schumer, a wealthy senator, was merely pretending to be a regular guy, while others pointed out that his use of a gas grill contradicted the stance of some Democrats who have criticized the use of gas stoves.

Among those who commented on Schumer's grilling mishap was Donald Trump Jr., who tweeted, “I get that you’re playing to the masses but literally no one puts cheese on a raw beef patty. If you need help learning how to do basic grilling stuff let me know.”

The incident served as a reminder of the importance of authenticity in politics. While Schumer may hold a powerful position in the Senate, his grilling gaffe revealed a disconnect with everyday American life. It also underscored the importance of understanding and respecting traditional American customs and practices, a principle that is central to conservative values. As this incident has shown, attempts to feign relatability can backfire, undermining credibility and inviting ridicule.
