The Democratic Party is in a state of turmoil following what many are calling a disastrous debate performance by Joe Biden.

This sentiment was echoed by CNN's John King who described the situation as "very aggressive panic" within the party.

According to RedState, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) shared his thoughts on the debate during a conversation with Ben Ferguson on their podcast, "The Verdict." Cruz concurred with King's assessment, stating, "Joe Biden did badly, that the degree of dementia he is facing right now, it has escalated to a point that it is unrecognizable." He added, "I think there are a great many Democrats who are looking at this saying 'we cannot nominate this man, he is not capable, he doesn't know what's going on.'"

Cruz praised former President Donald Trump's performance, noting that he remained "restrained, calm, and matter of fact" even as Biden accused him of lying. He contrasted this with Biden's outbursts, which he described as "freaky and desperate."

The senator also highlighted the poor polling numbers for Kamala Harris, suggesting that the Democrats would lose if they nominated her. However, he noted the party's dilemma in trying to sideline her in favor of someone like California Governor Gavin Newsom.

Cruz speculated on the possibility of Biden being replaced as the Democratic nominee. He stated, "I believe the odds have now skyrocketed, I believe the odds are north of 80 percent that the Democrat Party will remove Joe Biden from the ticket and replace him." He further suggested that Michelle Obama could be the likely replacement, as she might be the only person capable of sidelining Kamala Harris.

However, Cruz acknowledged potential obstacles to this scenario. He explained, "The impediments are twofold. Number one Michelle says no, number two Joe Biden says no." He predicted that influential Democrats would try to persuade Michelle Obama to run, arguing that she was the only person who could prevent a Trump presidency.

While Cruz conceded that Michelle Obama might garner more votes than Biden, he also pointed out her lack of political experience and her more left-leaning stance compared to her husband. He also questioned whether she would be as popular as Democrats might hope, given the party's recent struggles under Biden's leadership.

Cruz also expressed doubt that Michelle Obama would want to take on the demands of the presidency. He noted that she had previously stated she would not run and would support Biden. He suggested that while she might enjoy the power and fame associated with the role, she might not be willing to commit to the responsibilities of the job for four years.

The senator concluded by noting the difficult position the Democrats have found themselves in. He suggested that their attempts to maintain control have left them in a corner, desperately seeking a way out to avoid a significant loss. As the next few months unfold, it remains to be seen how the party will navigate these challenges and what impact this will have on the upcoming election.
